My friendly, calm and personable approach makes me a good choice for your wedding. As a member of the Northern Guild of Toastmasters, you are assured toastmaster professionalism of the highest order. Public indemnity insurance is guaranteed.
‘The personal touch’
A good toastmaster should offer a level of personal service that allows the happy couple and guests the opportunity to enjoy their day by easing any worries and concerns. You want a safe pair of hands to conduct your day for you. That’s the job and that’s why we do it!
I will keep your day to time, ensure that your guests have fun, are relaxed and informed, and be on hand to pamper and cater for your every need. I believe that a warm and friendly persona is so important and the simple adage, a ‘smile goes a long way’, is so essential. From our first meeting, I believe you will find my calming and positive demeanour will help reassure even the most nervous of couples on their special day!
Planning
The secret to any successful occasion is in the planning and this holds true for your event. A lifetime of service in education, organising and hosting high profile sporting events, confirms that no stone can be left unturned. It’s the attention to detail that matters most. From experience, it is the more relaxed formal occasions that often demand the greater degree of attention to detail. Whether it be a low key wedding reception entry or a more bold and dramatic welcome, its your call. Dressed, as is traditional, in my red toastmaster jacket, this will add colour and convention. Rest assured that your day will be one that you can celebrate and remember for the rest of your lives. Everyone can relax and enjoy, rather than fret and worry.
Leading up to the event, I will ideally set up a face to face zoom call meeting to discuss your requirements. We will go through the whole day together and I may be able to offer ideas and guidance should you request it. Ultimately, the day is yours and I am here to ensure your wishes and requirements are fulfilled. Even in those crucial weeks or days leading up to your wedding, rest assured I will always be at the other end of telephone or email.
Prior to your guests arriving, I will ..
• Arrive at the venue well ahead of time (90 minutes before guests arrive) to check the venue and familiarise myself with the layout
• Check the wedding breakfast room to ensure that the room has been correctly set up; ie seating plans, place cards, gift table etc
• Help to organise other suppliers who may be setting up and liaise with venue staff regarding timings
If the wedding ceremony is at your venue, I will ..
• Welcome your guests on arrival, discuss seating with arrangements with any ushers or appointed assistants, and assist with the seating of guests at your ceremony
• Assist in arranging for each member of the ‘wedded couple’ to meet the registrar separately
• Announce the bridal party into the ceremony and conclude with the traditional introduction of the newly wedded couple (with agreement of the registrars)
• Assist the photographer in assembling guests for group shots
At the wedding breakfast or reception, I will ..
• Organise the receiving line (should you choose to have one)
• Announce and formally welcome the married couple into the room
• Offer grace (if required)
• Introduce speakers and toasts
• Assist with the handing out of bouquets & presents
• Organise the cutting of the cake and formally close proceedings
Additionally, I can assist with the organisation of your bouquet throw, meet and greet your evening guests, and organise everyone to assemble for that particularly special moment where you take to the floor for your first dance. If you require me to provide additional music at any stage throughout the day, I do have a portable PA system. We can discuss such matters during our initial meeting.
Thank you for considering me as your Northern Guild Toastmaster. Let the fun times begin!
